Today on the Irish and international stage of PNP we chat to creator, Burlesque performer and lover of all things Irish, Éire May. Known by her friends and family as, Avril Carroll Long.

Avril has been performing burlesque for 7 years and went out on her own as Éire May 4 years ago. This Irish gem is best known for incorporating Ireland and Dublin into her acts - her true loves. She says 'nothing makes me happier than watching an audience laugh & really enjoy something I've created'.

In the past she did some acting then gave this up due to an awful amount of anxiety. A moment that changed her life made her realise the she needed to put herself back out there. She choose burlesque because it seemed the most terrifying. At first she wore contact lenses to blur our the audience. Now she bursts out on to the stage with lots of energy embracing her female power.

She lives her life by the motto 'do it first, worry about it later'. This gave her the OOMPH to pour crisps all over her body on Irelands Got Talent. She knew she was that joke act but she wanted to meet her hero Michelle Visage and experience the stage, cameras and production of a TV Show.

We chat about the meaning of burlesque, awful anxiety, the introverted extrovert, how life can change in a moment, female power, Irish and Dubbish burlesque acts, going back to your roots, getting away with murder, choosing laughter over crying, the love and loss of a mother and life advice.
